Bonn

Marksburg - castle in Braubach - 700 years old
On our way - Daisy (the dog) comes too!
Look at the size of the doorway - dad looks like a giant!

We travelled an hour by car this morning to a town on the Rhein called Braubach. It was here that we visited a very impressive castle built 700 years ago - Marksburg. It is in its original condition - ie. it has never been bombed or destroyed in any way & has never been renovated in any state other than original (does that make sense?). Apparantly, all the other castles in the area have been renovated in the 19th century & are not authentic. This one is!! They must have been midgets back then because judging by the size of the door dad is standing next to they obviously weren't tall. Even I had to duck!!!! There was amazing views from the top too!! It was a very interesting visit!! Emily had said she wanted to visit a castle & she is suitably impressed - however I'm not sure if she was thinking a castle like Cinderella's or not!
